Hanna Hellquist (1980) is a journalist and author from Karlstad, Sweden. Through her disarming candour and no-nonsense demeanor, she has become a prominent feature of the Swedish media scene and has spellbound her audience through all mediums, be it newspapers, radio, television, or books.

Hellquist is best known for her newspaper columns in Sweden’s leading daily newspaper Dagens Nyheter, and as the host of the popular morning radio show Morgonpasset i P3.

Hellquist made her literary debut in 2009 with the autobiographical novel Karlstad Zoologiska. With precise style and irresistible humor, she recounts a childhood both unusual and at times painful, characterized by growing up alongside a father who collected exotic and unexotic animals.

After years of writing for prominent Swedish newspapers, a selection of Hanna’s columns was combined into a book which was published in 2016  under the name En tryckare på Blue Moon Bar.

Hanna was awarded Sweden’s most prestigious journalism award Stora Journalistpriset in 2019, as well as the Swedish Publicist Association’s distinguished prize The Golden Pen in 2021.

To Hanna Hellquist, nothing is taboo or too personal for the discourse. She never shies away from the uncomfortably human, and by closely examining normality at the seams Hellquist gives vivid life to the very essence of the human experience. With topics spanning from diets and alcoholism, to the tragic death of her father and renovating her childhood home in the countryside – nothing evades Hanna Hellquist’s piercing perception and razor-sharp analysis of the world in which we live.
