Kristina Paltén was born in Piteå in northern Sweden in 1971. After spending almost two decades working as a telecom-engineer, Kristina left her job to pursue her love of running. She now makes a full-time living as an adventurer, ultra-runner, lecturer, and writer. She currently holds the women’s world record for running 48 hours on treadmill and the Swedish 6-Day Record – a form of ultra where as much ground as possible is covered in six days.

In 2015, Kristina took it upon herself to challenge her own fears and prejudices and run alone across Iran, a distance stretching 1,840 kilometers, which she finished in 59 days.

Desirée Wahren Stattin is a journalist, writer, and publisher based in Stockholm. She runs her own boutique publishing house and has previously worked as managing editor at Sweden’s largest women’s magazine, Amelia.

Together Kristina and Desirée have written Running Through Fear – One Woman’s Quest to Fight Prejudice With Trust, in which they portray Kristina’s adventures running through Iran. The book will be published by Wahlström & Widstrand in March 2018.

Kristina and Desirée both live in Stockholm with their families.
