Euphoria by Elin Cullhed shortlisted for the August Prize

Euphoria by Elin Cullhed has been shortlisted for the August Prize, Sweden’s most prestigious literary award. The jury’s motivation reads:

“Through her literary reimagining, Elin Cullhed allows the reader to come so close as to get under the skin of the creative, vibrant human being that was Sylvia Plath. Through life-affirming and furious prose, Cullhed depicts how a poetic genius wrestles with a house-wife existence where dreams and desperation feed one another. With Euphoria, a literary icon assumes a new place in our time – and in the texts’s pulsing heart the reader also catches sight of herself.”

The winner will be announced at a prize ceremony on November 22nd.
