Lina Nordquist’s Wins Book of the Year for Hunger

It was just announced that Lina Nordquist has won the prestigious award for Book of the Year in Sweden for her critically acclaimed novel Hunger.

The jury’s motivation reads as follows:

“An immensely powerful and heart-breaking historical novel! At the turn of the century in 1900, a small family flees to a deserted cottage in the forests of Hälsingland. There is much love in the cottage, but also grief and horrible secrets that will come to leave echoes in the present… A moving read with a heartbreaking mystery, written in a style that will make you shiver with pleasure.”

The Book of the Year Award is one of the most prestigious popular awards in Sweden. Each year, the editors at Bonnier’s book clubs pick twelve titles among books that have been published in Sweden in the past twelve months. It is then up to the readers to vote for their favorite, and this year Hunger received the most votes.

Hunger was published by Romanus & Selling on August 18th, 2021. Rights have been sold in 12 territories.
